Summary
The qualification laboratory at SCHURTER is equipped with the most modern test devices. The tests are carried out in constantly monitored and controlled room conditions. Even in the development phase we define physical and chemical values such as the force-deflection line, viscosity of liquids and their wetness behavior on surfaces. Before mass production SCHURTER products are analyzed extensively in climate cabinets, in life-cycle tests and in the EMC laboratory comprehensive qualification tests and documented in the test reports according to VDA standard.
In life-cycle test facilities our input systems are tested with multiple million switch cycles with a defined mechanical and electrical load. SCHURTER products are tested way over the specified operational life cycles. More test facilities run around the clock and therefore guarantee the highest reliability for the product.
For environment simulations we use our climate cabinet with a temperature of -70 ºC to +180 ºC. Requirements of the automobile industry and medical technologies are therefore covered. Should the customer so desire, we can put the products through somewhat harder environmental conditions.
Ice cold and extreme dampness intensify the conditions for electrical components and their housing materials. With data from the climate change tests, artificial aging processes can be simulated, which gives information as to the expected operating life under real conditions.
When new materials and processes are introduced they are qualified with modern equipment. By using viscosimeters, calorimeters or surface tension measuring devices the relative examinations are carried out. With their deep knowledge of the wetness characteristics of various materials our engineers can ensure that we can guarantee invariable adhesion in paint, foils and adhesives.
Whether in delivery or processes, our experts in laboratory measure and control the adopted materials, so that the highest quality is ensured.
To determine the degree of hardness of UV-potting the integration of the materials is verified with this testing device.

The wetting characteristics of liquids compared to solidsaffects the quality of products and their production processes. Examples include the use of colors and enamal varnish or the adhesion of materials. The wetting characteristics and the adhesive strength of colors and adhesives to foils or other substrates can be determined by defining the surface tension.
Due to deep knowledge of the wetting characteristics of various materials our engineers and technicians can ensure that we can guarantee consistant adhesive strength for colors and foils.

The most up-to-date digital microscopes enable us to see our products closely with a 1000 fold magnification. Our qualification team deliver the results to guarantee you, as a customer, the highest quality.
SCHURTER tests the products from the development process very carefully and extensively. Customer specific product developments are carried out according to the ISO/TS 16949 standard and documented with information from the initial samples according to VDA standard. If desired we offer more qualification tests and create the appropriate test reports. If needed independant test institutes can be brought in to verify the tests for you.

In order to test with the same benchmarks, we equip ourselves with the same test equipment and carry out the same test procedures as our customers and vendorsA highly precise 3D coordinate measuring machine measures components exactly to the micrometer such as housing for initial sampling and later mass production. According to requirements components can be tested optically or tactily. Flatness and courseness can also be measured exactly and illustrated graphically in 3D.
